Genders. Genders is a big issue in the western world. If you look it up on trusty old google who never lies, you’ll learn that there are now 72 genders. Apparently, according to MedicineNet, gender is not biological. It has emerged as a spectrum where one can identify themselves as any of the 72 identities. There are identities such as “amicagender,” which I am told means that someone can change their gender seamlessly depending on what friends they have around them.

Back in the day, (to age myself just a little) we called that following the crowd, and it wasn’t a good thing. What an incredible attack we have here, not only on gender and objective truth, but on humanity and our identity. This is dangerous at a soul level, my friends.

Imagine with me that you have a beautiful, brand new baby girl. From the time that baby is born, you lie about her identity. You tell that beautiful little girl that she is masculine. You tell her that she doesn’t fit in with people, she is ugly, you hate the way she eats. You tell this little human with infinite worth that she is worthless, undeserving, horrible at scholastics, not worthy of love. What do you think this little girl will grow up believing about her identity? Will she still have the innate ability to determine her worth and personhood?

Conversely, imagine that you had loved that little girl. You spoke life to her at every opportunity. Imagine that you had praised her grace and femininity, her gentleness, her wisdom. Imagine that you had seen her worth and pointed it out to her, showing her the ways she reflects her maker.

Would these two girls believe the same thing about themselves? Of course not. One little girl would grow up with a grossly disfigured image of herself, and the other would grow up knowing the father’s love for her. This is what Satan is doing in our world today, friends, and he is starting to plant seeds of doubt on little blank canvases in day cares and schools at such a young age. He is breaking down our core identity under the not-so-clever guise of “gender identity” and causing us to stray far from understanding who we are in Christ.

Why does this matter to him so much?

“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you” Luke 10:19

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John4:4

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18

You see, we are heirs. Destined for thrones, powerful beyond belief because of who we are in Christ and who our father is. We have been given the kingdom, handed the keys. We are washed in the blood of the lamb and built to slay dragons; but if Satan can convince us that we aren’t who we are, if he can tempt us with “being different,” sin, mental illness, and an illusion of our identity, then he can succeed at convincing us to abdicate our throne. This isn’t even about gender, friends. That’s just what he is writing in the fireworks that he is firing off to get your attention. This is about our identity on a much deeper level. This is the trojan horse that he has successfully brought into even the hearts of some churches.

Take time to seek out who you really are in Christ. Put on your armour friends! Don’t become distracted by the people who have fallen for this plot of the enemy and mistake them as the real enemy, remember we do not battle against flesh and blood. We battle against spiritual things, principalities and powers of darkness. It’s time to remember who you are and fight the enemy. You were born for such a time as this.
